Etsy Does It

Jesper found this print on Etsy and has been running home to check the mailbox ever since he ordered it. Yesterday it was here, hurrah! I love it. We promised to take a photo of it as soon as it's framed and hanged, but I couldn't keep from posting that long. Angela Duncan made it and you can find her here. And do listen to the song if you haven't. And don't forget the neighbours!

Text Message Of The Year

BFF Emilia is in New York (I know, what's the deal with NY and Swedish copywriters this week?) and just texted me this:

Note to self: Never buy emeralds after Bellini's. OMG.

I Heart NY, Yes I Do

We're back and it was great, it was brilliant and I'm sold, she had me at hello. Hello, hello, sweet darling New York. We stepped off the plane and into Dean & Deluca and at it was love at first bite. I heart NY, yes I do. I stood on Broadway with a weak latte in my hand and tears in my eyes. I'm a hopeless romantic, as some of you might know. But this wasn't tears for the ultimate city. They were for me. For being my American self again for the first time in 15 years. Feel free to smack me over the head, but I have to say this: It was pure magic to have me back. Jesper couldn't stop laughing, apparently the American me speaks even more and faster than my Swedish self. But oh, how good it was to be that girl again. So loud, so friendly, so confident, so interested in everyone and everything. I vow to keep her with me forever and always. (Minus the accent, or Jesper will never take me seriously again.)

Old Friends

Yesterday Lina and I finally saw Harry Potter and the Halfblood Prince. And it was good. Very good. But the trailer for Spike Jonze's "Where The Wild Things Are" was... I don't know. Magnificent could be the word. We both started to cry. And then we started to laugh so hard that it felt like we'd never be able to stop. We were laughing like maniacs, with tears streaming down our faces. So happy to see this. So happy to see how brilliant it will be. So happy to share the moment. Your average lunatics.

But just watch this and see if you can keep the goosebumps at bay.

Hello New York!

I'm finally coming to see you! It's been so long, I wonder if you'll recognize me. I kind of hope not. That Diesel jacket with faux suede sleeves I was wearing last time isn't really how I'd like you to remember me. I'm older and wiser now and will be dressed accordingly. Oh, lordy, I feel like a million bucks already (funny, so does my Master Card bill).

I am definitely having breakfast at Tiffany's. And I would very much like dinner at Elaine's. But what else? What can I not miss? Please let me know.

The Holy Grail

The Holy Grail of the modern family: To do a good job and be a great parent at the same time. Have energy to have fun and be relaxed. Prepare and share a nutritious meal. All this while being present in the moment and enjoying ourselves, possibly singing a catchy tune and wearing a becoming apron.

We were this close yesterday.

This last year we've been trying new things to make everyday life a little bit more Grailish. I've started working part time, we've left the city, we've learned to ask for help and accept it. It's made a big difference. And yesterday we celebrated another milestone in our quest for The Grail: Jesper's now working part time as well.

Which means two of everything. Two pick uppers (children, groceries, tooth paste). Two cooks. Two footballers. Two painters and singers. Two dancers. Two grown ups doing things together at the same time. Hallelujah, it might just be that we've found it! I'm feeling positively Sir Percivalian.

Some Might Say

...that there aint no love in the heart of the city.
I think they might be wrong.

Back To Work

I love the surreal world of a movie set. Anything's possible, nothing is too difficult. Snow in August and cozy Christmas in the blazing sun? No problem. Everybody has their own field of expertise and seem to take pride in what they do, from riggers to caterers, to director and cameramen. There's a certain magic to it and I think we all felt it yesterday. Thank you everyone.

And what an excellent way to start the first week at work! Leo would have been jealous. Pictures courtesy of Peter Målqvist.

Summer Was Good

I've never had this much time off before and boy, did I like it. It was like the summers of yore, the golden summers of yesteryear, the perfect ones you had as a kid, the ones without end, filled with strawberries and sun. (Ok, maybe not so much sun, but still.) I feel rested. I feel strong. I've got the world on a string, sitting on a rainbow, got that string around my finger and you get the picture. Please remind me of this feeling on Thursday when we're shooting a new commercial IN MY HOUSE and there will be nerves galore. IN MY HOUSE. I must be mad. Blame it on the sunshine.

Here We Go

This guy went to school for the very first time today. It lasted an hour, after which he opened the door to his classroom and announced "Daddy, I've made a new friend!". Sounds like a good enough start to me.
