The World According To Pooks

The last couple of weeks I've found some really interesting photos when I empty the camera on to my computer. Turns out we have a secret photographer in the family. I think he has a pretty good eye. Nice compositions. Even the styling's good. But what are those seals doing?

Thanks for reading. Now back to work. Me, not you.

Hello Friday

It's been one of those weeks.
And yet it went by so fast. So fast.
Or is it me getting old?
Nah.
But you're here now, dear, sweet Friday. Like an old friend that keeps bouncing back, no matter how bad we treat you.
We're too tired to do it properly, but we're trying.
So we're celebrating you with pizza and popcorn.
(And I do make the best pizza.)
The kids have finished their plates and Wilhelm's turned into a cat.
Blanka feeds him popcorn and scratches his back.
I can hear him purr.
Jesper's at the computer, supposedly not working.
(And you know where I am.)
But we're together.
And it's Friday again.
Yay. Too tired, but still. Yay.
Hope you have a good one.

Proof

See? Told you. This is the sky over our house at eight o'clock tonight. This is what spring looks like.

Thanks for reading and have a good night.

Hello, My Lovelies!

We planted these beans on the First Day of Spring (yep, all part of the new Rituals thing), which really wasn't spring-y at all in this part of the world (see ugly photo right above). Well, apart from the setting the clock back one hour, that is. No wait, forward, right? You know what I mean. More light in the evenings, but waking up one hour earlier?

Anyway. It wasn't springy back then and I wasn't sure this was ever going to work out, but once again Mother Nature strikes back. Look at these little fellas! You can practically see them grow! Blanka keeps checking them for beans every morning, Wilhelm not so much. But they're equally excited about the growth. So am I. Looks like they're on some kind of superfuel. And suddenly I get the urge to cry Cowabunga on the top of my lungs! Cowabunga on y'all, fellow Spring-tonians and hibernators. Spring's on it's way.

Thank you, mom, for the little fish made of pastry. Thanks for making me feel like this day really calls for celebration, even though you had a terrible cold and the kids were running wild at the car wash and dad was no help in the kitchen and I was late from work. Thank you. Noone else would think of making me a pastry fish. I love you.

Skärtorsdag

According to Swedish folklore, Skärtorsdag (the Thursday before Good Friday) is the day when witches and warlocks fly to Blåkulla for their annual feast. What they supposedly do there is nothing I discussed with the kids. I might have mentioned the word party or dancing with your cat. But hey, they don't need to know it all, just yet.

So Skärtorsdag my little witches went around to the neighbours, wishing them a Happy Easter with cards they'd made during the week (quite possibly the ugliest Easter cards in history, I had to bite my lip not to laugh), getting candy or small coins in return.

It was a good way to start the holiday. And the first time outside without jackets! I don't know what was more exciting, the candy or the fact that they weren't freezing. Poor children of The Pole.

Happy Easter Arm!

Today has been crap in many ways. But I'm leaving the office now and the young'uns are coming to pick me up, courtesy of world's best husband, and tomorrow is Day Off and things will be good again.

If I don't see you before Sunday, Happy Easter everyone. May your days be filled with eggs and painted arms.

Kyss. And thanks for reading.
